Teddy Bear Cholla on the right with saguaro cactus on the left. The Teddy Bear Cholla are also referred to as the "jumping cactus". They do not really jump, but if you even brush by them, you can get cactus needles in your skin and they hurt. If you were to touch one with your hand and a part of the cactus came off in your hand, don't use your other hand to get it out, or you will have two hands with cactus needles in them. What you want to do is use a good soled shoe or a rock and get the cactus piece between the ground and your shoe and then pull away. While they are a "knarly" cactus, though they are a beautiful plant and when the sun light changes, so does the color of this plant.
